Anima mundi –the amazing interconnectivity of life on earth- was the inspiration for Diverse Divers. The catalyst was coral, the giver of life and fertility of the oceans.

For photosynthetic coral, the experience of sunlight is the encounter with the ultimate reality; light is connected with the beginning and the end. This relation conveys the same cosmic reality as the human’s quest to reach the light and attain the centre.  Such splendor of enlightenment is the stuff of life that combines the cold blue light of the intellect with the emotional warmth of the earthly sun.

Diverse Divers is the bringer of power through art: the tool of tools to excite, express and wonder. It is a giver of underwater media documenting the primordial intellect of marine life. Founded in 2016 by marine conservationist Sasha Solis Sikaffy and filmmaker Riccardo Castrovillari, Diverse Divers is a media platform for the lunar spiral that envelops our seas. Infinite space -which being empty can contain everything- is the promise of life and love, creativity and transcendence. Diverse Divers proposes transcending aloof space and entering a mindful one.

While Diverse Divers originated in Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras, our work now takes us around the world. This allows us to bring you an online media collection of underwater films to educate and inspire people of all ages on the need to preserve and restore our coral reefs. Diverse Divers engages in community partnerships through cooperative efforts with non-profit and for profit organizations. Our contributions to the community of Roatan include a recycling partnership with Go Blue Bay Islands a National Geographic Geo-tourism Partner- to increase curbside recycling initiatives on the Island. Diverse Divers also conducted marine science workshops for students and teachers in secondary schools and for the staff of the Juan Manuel Gálvez International Airport.

Our methodology spins the threads of art and science into a web radiating in all directions. Diverse Divers is the great weaver spinning the revolutions of nature and the instinctual and emotional urges of the human, as if spinning the thread of the umbilical cord.

The ocean contains the sum of all manifestations of living forms, including us. Take a deep breath and observe the diaphragm muscle expand your chest. When you took that breath, your lungs absorbed millions of oxygen molecules from the air. Oceanic algae contributed most of those molecules, producing about 70 percent of the planet’s oxygen. Deprived of this air, we could live only a few minutes. Natural processes within our bodies are somehow linked to the ecological processes that reign in the natural world. Without the carbon dioxide we breath out, algae could not get carbon dioxide to build their cells and provide nourishment to themselves and to other forms of life.

Ultimately, there are no self-sufficient organisms; no life exists in isolation from its ecological context. Diverse Divers works to reach the stranger who is the bringer of change for the coming power of the future.
